Discover the schedule of events, travel tips, and accommodation options for our wedding in Namibia on May 2, 2025.

Traveling to Namibia from the Netherlands

We are excited to welcome you to Namibia for our wedding festivities! Here are your travel options to join us in celebrating this special occasion.

Travel Options

Option 1: Travel on Your Own

You have the flexibility to plan your own travel itinerary. You can join us for the entire wedding week or just for the wedding on the 2nd of May. This option allows you to explore Namibia at your own pace before joining the celebrations.

If you need assistance with planning your trip, feel free to reach out to us for recommendations and tips.

Option 2: Join the Balk Family

Join the Balk family for a guided journey from Windhoek to the North of Namibia. This option includes a detailed travel itinerary and allows you to experience Namibia with a group. The itinerary is as follows:

  • Depart from the Netherlands on April 16, 2025.
  • Arrive in Windhoek on April 17, 2025.
  • Stay in Windhoek for a few days.
  • Travel to Waterberg and stay for 2 nights.
  • Spend 1 night in Etosha Okaukeujo.
  • Continue to Namutoni and stay for 2 nights.
  • Arrive at Ongula Lodge on April 25, from where we will attend the wedding. See the schedule page for more information.

This option is perfect for those who want a structured travel experience and to explore some of Namibia’s highlights with family and friends. However, this is just a glimpse of what Namibia has to offer, and there are many more places to explore, which we definitely recommend visiting at your own pace, perhaps after the wedding or before travelling together with us.

Option 3: Group Transport from Windhoek

For those who prefer to travel alone but want assistance with part of the journey, we will arrange transport to the North from Windhoek on the 25th of April. This option provides a balance between independent travel and convenience.

Flight Options

There are two options for flights:

  • Lufthansa with one stop in Frankfurt. This is the fastest option (12-14 hours) but more expensive.
  • Ethiopian Airways with two stops. This is a slower option (16-22 hours) but more affordable.

Visa Requirements

Starting from the 1st of April 2025 dutch citizens need a Visa which can be obtained on arrival for a fee of N$1 600 and meeting entry requirements, which include possessing a return ticket, medical insurance, proof of financial means, no criminal record, and a passport valid for at least six months.
