Wedding Schedule and Reception Information

Our wedding will beautifully blend Namibian Oshiwambo culture to enhance the joyful celebration and unite our families. Here’s a brief overview of what you can expect.

Sunday, 27 April 2025: Announcement Day(Optional attendance)

  • We will attend a normal church service at Ontananga ELCIN church and our engagement will be joyfully announced by the pastor at the conclusion of the church service.
  • We will then move to the bride's house for a flag-raising ceremony, marking the official beginning of the wedding celebration.
  • The annoucement day will conclude with a lively celebration filled with singing, dancing, and laughter.

Wednesday, 30 April 2025: Cultural activity(Optional attendance, not wedding related)

  • For those who are interested in exploring Namibian culture, we will be going on a guided tour to a typical oshiwambo homestead.
  • This tour starts at Ongula Lodge.

Thursday, 1 May 2025: Eexungi (Singing) Ceremony(Optional attendance)

  • Late afternoon, the Groom's entourage will deliver the bride's suitcase and lobola (bride price).
  • The bride's family will then perform the Eexungi ceremony, a traditional celebration that honors the bride as she is prepared for the official wedding day
  • The ceremony will be followed by a festive gathering with food, singing and dancing

Friday, 2 May 2025: The Big Day

  • Our wedding day begins with a church service at 10 AM, where we will join together in the presence of our loved ones.
  • A photoshoot will follow immediately after the service to capture the magical moments of the day.
  • The festivities will continue with traditional ceremonies and joyous celebrations, blending our cultural heritage with our personal love story.
  • The reception will commence at 3 PM at the Katanga Residence, where we will dine, dance, and toast to our future together.

Saturday, 3 May 2025: Oondete (Farewell Ceremony)

  • The groom and his entourage will travel to the bride’s house to pick her up and bring her to her new home.
  • The families of the groom and bride will joyfully come together for a formal introduction, celebrating the union of their families!
  • This moment also marks the heartfelt handover of the bride from her birth family to her new family.
  • The celebration is typically filled with emotion and marks the grand conclusion of the wedding festivities hosted by the bride’s family.
